About Edahn Small
Edahn Small, JD, MA, AMFT is a multidisciplinary therapy, attorney, and information designer based in Beverly Hills, California. Edahn (pronounced ee DON) was raised in Los Angeles and earned his Bachelors from UCLA , where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with both collegiate and departmental honors. At UCLA he worked as a research assistant in the Hummel Cognitive Lab and completed his undergraduate thesis in the Zaidel Neuroscience Lab. He later conducted some independent research at the A-Z Lab at USC, where he studied modulation effects between the sympathetic nervous system and mirror neurons.
After graduating UCLA, Edahn attended law school at King Hall at UC Davis where he was named a Public Service Law Program Scholar. After passing the bar, he worked as a Patients’ Rights Advocate in one of California’s largest state psychiatric hospitals. He eventually transitioned into litigation but quickly became disillusioned with its toxic, adversarial culture. The experience, however, helped shape his understanding of conflict, narrative, and dispute resolution. Edahn then obtained his certification as a mediator with the LA City Attorney’s Dispute Resolution Program.
In 2012, Edahn began his Masters degree in Counseling. He graduated in 2014 Summa Cum Laude and Phi Kappa Phi from Cal State University’s esteemed counseling program. He completed his traineeships at the Valley Trauma Center and the Center for Individual and Family Counseling where he counseled couples, adults, and children on a variety of issues.
In addition to his therapy practice, Edahn is an information designer, AI dabbler, and avid Zen practitioner. He style of therapy blends mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and narrative therapy.
